Speaker Bio
Tom has 35 years experience as an architect and healthcare facility planning consultant. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architect and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects. His leadership and ideas have influenced rural hospitals, primary and ambulatory care facilities, academic medical centers, and our nation’s two hospital ships, the USS Mercy and Comfort. His passion focuses on optimal performance of the buildings that emerge from his practice. He organized and formerly directed the HKS’ Clinical Solutions & Research team, and is the President and HKS Principal in charge of the Center for Advanced Design Research & Evaluation, a non-profit organization dedicated to rigorously distilling and disseminating quality research evidence relevant to the improvement of design.
