Speaker Bio
Derek Parker has designed hospitals in 15 countries over a 50 years period. His projects have received over 75 awards for design and he is frequently invited to speak, internationally, on the impact of architecture on clinical and financial outcomes in healthcare. He is a board member for Marin General Hospital and a co-founder of The Center for Health Design. For the last 13 years he has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Academy of Design and Health in Stockholm, Sweden and, from 2002 until 2008, a Board Member of the National Academy of Engineering He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects which awarded Derek its Hamilton Medal and a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
